Kipling Ace Hardware

I needed to replace a broken shelf Glass inexpensively for a 20 year old frig. They were able to cut a scrape piece of plexiglass to $10.

Called ahead to tell the repair person I was arriving at 6:55pm so he could prepare my lawn mower since they closed at 7pm. This was the earliest I could get there after work. The repair guy was very rude and kept reminding me after I got there that it’s “almost 7” and “you’re lucky we didn’t close on you”. My lawn mower was paid for and placed in my car by 7:02. It probably would have been 2 minutes faster if when I had arrived downstairs the repair guy wasn’t outside chatting and had noticed that I had arrived.

Pretty disappointed in the Ace store closest to my new home. I never write these kinds of reviews. However, I won’t be coming back here. Be mindful of their return policy and/or who’s checking you out at this store. Used a $20 off coupon for a purchase over $100. Returned one item that deceased the amount of the total to not meet the $100. Guy checking me out wouldn’t refund me the full amount of the item that the $20 coupon was applied to. Even though it was unopened and and purchased 4 days earlier. Also wasn’t even willing to find a way to get me a $20 off coupon. This transaction could have been resolved by refunding the full amount and then purchasing the items again. Instead, I was told that wasn’t an option and lost $20 for no reason (and a $20 off coupon). Not coming back to this store and I suggest you don’t either.

I called and was put on an endless hold for a simple question regarding in-store stock, and although the initial call taker came back several times to check if I’d been helped, no one ever came to the phone to assist with my question. Then, someone loudly picked up and slammed the phone to disconnect the call. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

I was excited when an Ace Hardware store moved into the old Staples building near where I live. And I have shopped there over the past couple of years, however my experience has been very poor. I have gone there several times to purchase propane for my RV, only to have wasted my time the majority of the time. I don't know if it is their lack of knowledge or poor equipment but they always have difficulty putting propane in my tank. I go to Murdocks and they never have an issue. The last time I went in and asked for propane, they told me someone would be right out. 20 minutes later I went back, and they send someone else out, who got halfway to my RV, got a phone call and told me he had to take the call. I left. Yesterday I went to buy a couple of Command Hooks, when to the check out, and there was a long line. The young man at the register appeared not to be motivated and was extremely slow. When the line got very long I went to find a manager or employee to ask for some help at the registers. The first person I encountered a the paint department told me she was on break. So I went looking for someone else and found a gentleman who told me he wasn't a manager. I asked if he could find one, and he said he would. The manager said there are now two clerks at the check out (and not nicely) but the line has gotten even longer. I put my purchases on a shelf and left the store. I don't plan on returning. About the worst customer service I have ever seen.

After my wife left one night and was never heard from again, I decided it was time to fix the hole in the dry wall and also clean the blood out of the carpet. They had all the things I needed to get the job done. Along with a few other items that came in handy, like some rope, a tarp, and I nice shovel. Ace really is the place with helpful hardware men.

This Ace is the place with unhelpful hardware folks. They gave wrong advice which I had to go to a different ace. While there they look at me like I was crazy when I told them what the lady told me to buy. Considering her badge said assistant manager, this is very concerning. Suzy was very rude, unhelpful and literally snatched my phone out of my hand. Then proceeded to mock me that my hands were shaking and I “shake more than I do” (which the shaking was from adrenaline because someone almost crashed into me.)

Great service and helpful. Lawn care items are limited but the Ace just up S Kipling has most of what’s online.

Our Family has always loved and frequented this store for years. Probably as long as it has been open. Something has changed!! My husband called in to inquire about having belts changed out on our riding lawn mower. Was told that timing was perfect as there was not a waiting list and could be done quickly. He dropped off the mower to this store on the 10th of April and was told that it would be turned around quickly. No communication from the store. He contacted Ace on the 21st of April - Not completed and still no parts. Again No communication from the store. He contacted them on the 27th of April - Not completed and still no parts. The store should be receiving the parts on Monday, the 1st of May or possibly Tuesday, the 2nd and mower would be completed next week sometime. He received a voicemail today, Friday April 28th that the mower was complete. A MIRACLE! The voicemail stated so many untruths about times, dates, work completed and PRICE. THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE was $45.00. In the 2nd conversations the ESTIMATE was $147.00 and the FINAL BIll came to $212. My husband showed up to pick up the lawn mower and discussed the many change in charges that had taken place. HE was not greeted well, was treated rudely and told that they would not be working on the mower again. He paid the medium price for work completed of $150.00. While trying to load the mower on the trailer, he was having some issues... do you think that one Ace Hardware employee came out to help or assist???? NOPE! They just stood there and watched! We have always tried to support and purchase needed supplies from ACE as we don't want to see the small businesses to vanish like many others. However, after finding out that they are PRIVATELY OWNED...We will not be shopping at the Kipling and Bowles location any longer. From the reviews that I am seeing...we are not alone.

This hardware has gone downhill. Anytime I come into the store, either you can’t find anyone to help or the associates have no idea what they’re talking about giving you little to no confidence in what you are purchasing. I feel like now the only way I will shop at this location is if I already know exactly what I’m coming in for. Also, beware of Scott the older gentleman who ironically was behind the customer service desk. Super rude and condescending and has no customer service skills. If you don’t have time to help someone, you can politely say I will find someone to assist you rather than being completely rude. And when describing the customer, don’t describe them as “she’s some young little thing”.
